Activities & Programs To Support Transition To H.S. • Transition Day - orientation to student activities and high school issues – May • Peer Mentor Program – Beginning of June • Freshman and New Student Orientation to High School - Day before school starts • Freshman Orientation Class – First Semester • New Student Lunch Groups – Second and Third Fridays of the fall semester • Individual Counseling Sessions – First Marking Period
Graduation RequirementsClass of 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012(Pending Board Approval, the Class of 2012 will be required to take Techniques of Writing with CP English 9 for 2 credits—not in figures below.)Current 8th, 9th, 10th, &11th grades Total 110 credits • English 4yr 22 credits • World Civilizations 1yr 5 credits • US History 2yr 10 credits • Math 3yr 15 credits • Science(bio/physical) 3yr 18 credits • Phys Ed/Health 4yr 16.5 credits • World Language 1yr 5 credits • Visual, Performing Art 1yr 5 credits • Career Ed. & family, consumer & life skills 1 yr 5 credits or Vocational-tech ed. • Electives 8.5 credits
Required Tests For Graduation • New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment – Spring of Junior Year in Math and Language Arts. • EOC—End Of Class Exam—2008 this exam will be administered to students taking Biology
College Entrance Requirements 16 Units • English – 4 units • Math - 2 units (some cases 3 to 4) • World language – 2 units (some 3 to 4) • Science – 2 units lab science (biology, chemistry, physics) • History – 3 units • Academic electives – 3 units
High School Scheduling Timeline – Middle School • Course selections and teacher recommendations mailed home to parents – response required • Options offered for conferences: • Approval (no conference or telephone call requested) • Telephone conference requested • Conference requested • Mid-May, Conflicted schedules forwarded to counselors for resolution
