Project Description • Design a digital communication system using Simulink and USRP-2 • Should work for different modulation schemes • Implement simplified 802.11MAC • Test MATLAB Simulink’s versatility as a SDR platform
Project Plan Implement Physical Layer Implement MAC Layer Integrate the layers to form the network Test the overall system
Project Design Physical Layer • Implement point to point communication • Achieve reasonable bit error rates & transmission rates • BER = 10^-4 • Transmission rate= 50 kbps • Implement digital modulation schemes • FSK • DBPSK
Project Design MAC Layer Implement MAC (Multiple Access Control) Layer for network communication Implement simplified 802.11 MAC
Current Status Currently working on • FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) Model • DBPSK (Differential Binary Phase Shift Keying) Model
Current Status • MATLAB models work nicely (No frame errors) • Noise reduction schemes on over the air models need more work
Current Status Also working on • Error rate improvement tactics • Transmitting the same bit multiple times and decoding on the receiver side • Image file transmission • Turning a binary image into frames and transmitting an image
