Dementia Friendly Swimming • Clifton Leisure Centre: Wednesday 11.15am to 12.15pm • Ken Martin Leisure Centre, Bulwell: Wednesday 3pm to 4.00pm • Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre, Bilborough: Friday 2.30pm to 4.00pm
Dementia Friendly Swimming - Case Study • Harry and Joan met project support officer at local group. • Nearest session 25 minutes away • ‘there’s nothing like this near where we live, we’d rather travel knowing the staff understand and we’ve got help if we need it” • Harry unsure if he could still swim. • After discussion with coach he swam 14 lengths, now regularly 20 lengths. • Both Joan and the swimming coach were surprised by his ability in the pool, both commenting on how ‘unexpected it was’.
