College Visits • To see if the college is a good fit • Schedule campus tours and information sessions in advance • Visit while school is in session • Visit a variety of schools • Look for Spring &/or Fall Open House dates
Résumé/Accomplishments • Encourage students to gather information • Activities, sports, volunteer work, part time job, honors, etc. • Quality not quantity
College Admissions Tests • PSAT • Fall of Junior Year • SAT and ACT • Spring of Junior Year & Fall of Senior Year • Online registration can be found at: • www.collegeboard.org • www.act.org
Test Scores • SAT or ACT Scores (when registering) • Be sure to use the correct school code: • (#331128) East / (#331130) West • Send scores directly to colleges • Can send scores to up to four colleges for free • Test scores are NOT included on the HS transcript • Subject Tests • Required by more selective colleges • Check to see which subject tests are required
Applications • Individual College Applications • Common Application • SUNY Application Please note: Students must inform their School Counselor when they apply to college by filling out the out necessary form found in Student Services.
NCAA Clearinghouse • You must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at the end of Junioryear if you plan to play a Division I or II sport in college. • Register online at: • www.eligibilitycenter.org •See your Counselor as soon as possible to make sure you are in courses that meet discuss eligibility requirements.
