Rules-Possessive Nouns (Singular) Rule #1: To make a singular noun possessive, just add “s” • Example: Tom->Tom’s fault • Example: Amanda->Amanda’s job • Example: the student->The student’s backpack • Example: the Jaffers->The Jaffers’s house.
Rules-Possessive Nouns (Plural) Rule #1: add ’ to a regular plural noun that ends in “s” • Example: dogs-> dogs’ leashes • Example: boys-> boys’ books Rule #2: if the plural noun does not end in “s,” add ’s • Example: geese-> geese’s pond • Example: group-> group’s project • Example: children-> children’s homework
