Remember: • You shouldn’t rely on finding work to support yourself during your time abroad • You are there to study
University of Essex mobility funding • Managed by Essex Abroad
Erasmus+ … Euro 330,000 • Study in the Erasmus Zone: • EU28 or; • EEC (not CE), or: • EU Candidate countries (Croatia, FYRoM, Turkey) • Study period 3 to 12 months • Traineeship 2 to 12 months • All nationalities
Maintenance Loan • UK students can apply for a Maintenance Loan and a reduced Tuition Fee Loan while on a study/work placement. • The amount you are eligible for depends on your individual situation – are you: • • on work placement or studying • • part of the Erasmus programme • • living at home (UK)
SFE – travel bursary • MUST be: • registered with SFE • Receiving student finance based on household income • attending an overseas institution. • Funding will be paid on an ad hoc basis • NOTE: • Work placements abroad are NOT eligible for a SFE Travel Grant.
SFE Travel Bursary – what it covers • up to three return journeys between the UK and the overseas institution during a full academic year abroad; • Mandatory Medical Insurance and Medical Expenses for the purpose of studying abroad • Visa costs • NOTE: • The first £303 of travel costs are disregarded. • You must purchase the most cost effective tickets using the most economical and practical formof transport. For example, train instead of flying and standard-class instead of first-class tickets.
SFE Travel Bursary – how to apply • Apply any time during the academic year. • SFE will automatically send to you the following if you’re eligible to apply: • SFE Course Abroad Form — should be completed by their university or college to confirm periods abroad. • SFE Travel Abroad Expenses Form — the student should complete. • There’s no limit to how many travel grant forms students can submit.
