In Chapter 15, Bud arrives at Grand Calloway Station and is taken to his first bedroom by Miss Thomas. Worried about monsters, Bud discovers a closet full of girly stuff. Bud also overhears an argument between Miss Thomas and Calloway, and later, Calloway threatens him. Despite the fear, Bud finds comfort in the pictures of horses and falls asleep with thoughts of a bedtime story.

Chapter 15 • The band pulls up at Grand Calloway Station and Miss Thomas takes Bud to the room he will sleep in. • Bud gets his first bedroom since living with his mother. Miss Thomas guides him into his room, complete with a bed with "two sheets" and closets that could house monsters galore..
Chapter 15 • Bud worries about the possibilities of monsters lurking in the closets, but realizing after asking if the closets lock that he is lacking in his good impression towards Miss Thomas • Imagining scary monsters bursting out of the cupboards in the room, Bud asks if the closet doors are locked and finds out that the closet is full of girly stuff.
Chapter 15The girl is gone, which Bud thinks means she's dead, whoever she is. Bud then remembers TWO of his rules • Rule No. 1 ? • Rule No. 2 ?
Chapter 15 • After Miss Thomas says goodnight, he hears her argue with Calloway outside of his door. • Why did Bud want Calloway to win the argument?
Chapter 15 • Out of nowhere, Calloway busts into the room, locks all the closet doors and threatens Bud, saying he had better not touch anything or snoop because he'll find out and send Bud away.
Chapter 15 • Once Calloway leaves, Bud remembers swimming at the YMCA and how a man there would lie to the kids to get them to stop urinating in the pool, threatening them and scaring them. Bud thinks that there is no way to make kids want to do the wrong thing more than telling them not to do it and threatening them as if they were stupid.
Chapter 15 • Looking around the room, Bud likes the pictures of horses hanging on the wall. • Then, woopzoopslooop, Bud falls asleep thinking of a bedtime story.
