CURRICULUM • VETERINARY COUNCIL OF INDIA- MINIMUM STANDARDS OF VETERINARY EDUCATION– DEGREE COURSE (BVSC. & AH) REGULATIONS, 2008 • THE GAZETTE OF INDIA- EXTRA ORDINARY, PART-3, SECTION-4, AUGUST-2008 • FIVE COMPLETE ACADEMIC YEARS INCLUDING A COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP OF 6 MONTHS DURATION • TOTAL CREDITS - 177 (101+76), NON CREDIT COURSES - 4 CREDITS
INTERNSHIP • COMPULSORY ROTATIONAL PROGRAMME OF 6 CALENDAR MONTHS DURATION • FULL TIME TRAINING INCLUDING EMERGENCIES/ NIGHT DUTIES • ONLY AFTER COMPLETION OF ALL CREDIT REQUIREMENTS WITH AN OGPA OF 6/10 • REGISTRATION WITH STATE VETERINARY COUNCIL PRIOR TO START OF INTERNSHIP • STIPEND RS. 1000/- PER MONTH + TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE OF RS. 600/-
INTERNSHIP SHALL BE DONE IN • TEACHING AND APPROVED VETERINARY POLYCLINICS/ VETERINARY HOSPITALS • VETERINARY BIOLOGICALS • TECHNOLOGY CENTERS • LIVESTOCK FARMS • VETERINARY DISEASE INVESTIGATION CENTERS • OTHER CENTERS APPROVED BY UNIVERSITY
INTERNSHIP BROAD AREAS • CLINICAL TRAINING • LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION & MANAGEMENT TRAINING • POULTRY PRODUCTION & MANAGEMENT TRAINING • LIVESTOCK TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES COVERING FAMILIARIZATION IN BIOLOGICAL PRODUCT UNIT, DISEASE CONTROL CAMPAIGNS, IN-PLANT TRAINING IN MEAT/MILK PLANTS, TRAINING IN ZOO/WILD LIFE CENTER/ NATIONAL PARKS
INTERNSHIP LEAVE • A TOTAL OF 10 DAYS CASUAL LEAVE • TRAINING OF 1 WEEK DURATION - NO LEAVE • TRAINING UP TO WEEKS DURATION - NOT MORE THAN 2 DAYS • TRAINING MORE THAN 2 WEEKS DURATION -NOT MORE THAN 3 DAYS • HOWEVER IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES C.L. FOR MORE DAYS MAY BE PERMITTED BY THE DEAN
INTERNSHIP EVALUATION • GRADED AS SATISFACTORY OR UNSATISFACTORY AT THE END OF TRAINING • GRADING BASED ON EVALUATION OF LOG BOOK PERFORMANCE REPORT FROM ALL THE CENTERS AND COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION (WRITTEN AND VIVA VOCE)
