Westview Elementary’s Literacy Week Celebrations Jan. 28th – Feb. 1st We will be celebrating all things ‘literacy’ at the end of January. We have a lot of events and activities planned for students including: Caught in the Act, Reading Rocks & Socks, Reading Flashlight Fun, Bookmark Art, Decorating Doors & Character Dress-Up Day.
GOT CAUGHT READING!!! Throughout Literacy Week staff members will be trying to ‘catch’ students who are reading during their free time! Students who Got Caught Reading will be given a slip to fill out that will go in a box in their classroom. At the end of each day a name will be drawn by teachers and the students who Got Caught Reading will select a prize! A big thanks to our PAC for their donation for our prizes!
Throughout Literacy Week students are invited to design their own bookmarks! Prizes will be awarded at the end of the week to some lucky recipients!
DOOR DECORATING CONTEST Westview’s Literacy Week Celebrations Jan. 28th – Feb. 1st
READING ROCKS & LET’S DONATE SOCKS! On Tuesday Jan. 29thwe will be collecting donations of new socks for charity. Cozy toes make stories more enjoyable!
READING IN THE DARK Flashlight Fun Wed. Jan. 30th at 9:00am We will start the day off by leaving the lights out, grabbing a good book, finding a comfortable spot and reading together with the aid of a flashlight!
Dress-Up Day Friday Feb. 1st Students are invited to come dressed up as one of their favourite character's from a book that they have read! Earn House Points for your team by participating. Parents and grand-parents are welcome to dress up as well!
FAMILY & FRIENDS LITERACY CELEBRATION Friday Feb. 1st 9:00am – 9:30am Parents, guardians, grand-parents and friends are invited to come to the school and read with us. We will have refreshments and light snacks for our visitors.
