  2. INTRO Have you ever wanted to take a dive into New York City's history? Have you wondered about what New Yorkers do in their free time? Do you think about its nick name? Well, then New York is the right place for you!

  3. Why people come to New York City. People visit New York City for many different reasons. Here are a few. They can come to see the Statue of Liberty and also The Empire State Building. There is even a New York Sky Ride. The New York Sky Ride takes you up and above the Big Apple.

  4. The Big Apple • Want to know what New York's nick name is? It is the Big Apple. Various accounts have traced the “Big Apple” expression to Depression a night club, and a popular 1930s dance known as the “Big Apple.” One version even linked the name with the 19th century procuress!

  5. New York City Fire of 1835 In New York City there was a destructive fire in 1835. Over 50 downtown buildings got demolished but surprisingly only two people died. The property damage costs about twenty five million dollars. That is enough to build three Erie Canals! At the time The East River was frozen and melted from the fire.

  6. Conclusion New York city is one of the most famous cities in America. So Now come take a good bite into the big apple!
