  4. Ir a con infinitivos • When the verbIris followed by a and the infinitive form of a verb, it is translated as “going to…” Only the form of Ir changes. The second verb remains in the infinitive form. We use the same construction in English as a way of expressing a near future event. • Remember than an infinitive is a verb that has not been conjugated. Por ejemplo: Yo voy a estudiar español. Ella va a ir a España. Nosotros vamos a ver la televisión. Ellos van a escribir la tarea. I am going to study Spanish. She is going to go to Spain. We are going to watch television. They are going to write the homework.

We want to play soccer.

  8. Ir a con infinitivos • To say that you are going to do something on a certain day of a particular week, use el before the weekday. Por ejemplo: El sábado voy a ir de compras. On Saturday I’m going to go shopping. El lunes vamos a ir al cine. On Monday we are going to go to the movies. El miércoles van a correr en el parque. On Wednesday they are going to run in the park.
