How Cú Culainn got his name. Conor , the King of Ireland had fierce warriors called the Red Branch Knights. King Conor had a clever nephew called Setanta. Setanta wanted to be a Red Branch Knight but he was too young. Setanta loved to play hurling.

That night, Setanta decided to run away and join the Red Branch Knights
When the game finished, Setanta went to the party. A mad dog was on guard!
That’s how Setanta got a new name – CúCulainn or hound of Culann
