EMTA Barometer 2004 Metropolitan areas are very different: • Population 28 times bigger in London than in Vilnius • Surface 80 times wider in Brussels than in Vilnius • Annual GDP per capita 7 times higher in Oslo than in Cadiz Laura Delgado
EMTA Barometer 2004 Mobility figures • We make on average 3 trips per person per day, spending 30 minutes on each motorised trip (1 hour and ½ travelling everyday!!) • There is almost one car every two inhabitants → private car is the most important mode of transport • Modal split of total trips: 31% walking + cycling 46% private car 20% PT 3% motorcycle + other Laura Delgado
