  2. What is a household?

  3. A household Is a person or a group of people who live under the same roof , combine their income and assets and “eat from the same pot” at least 50% of the time. For example, 6 of the last 12 months or 3 of the last 6 months.

  4. Exceptions to the definition, but are still considered part of the household: • A newborn baby less than 3 months • Newly married person joining the family even less than 3 months • Students in boarding school • The head of the household lives away more than 50% of the time, but financially supports other members A household also includes: • Servants, lodgers, or agricultural laborers who have lived there for at least half of the time (6 of the past 12 months)

  5. Scenarios • A wife, husband and four children live in a house. The brother of the wife and his daughter live in the house. How many people live in the household? • A husband has three wives and each wife has their own cooking pot. The husband is being interviewed. Who is part of the household?
