About Laxmi Pratisthan A non-profit memorial foundation established by Mr. Bishnu Gautam and his wife Laxmi Gautam in memory of their two sons Kumar Gautam and Balram Gautam, killed within nine months in separate road accidents in one in Nepal and another in USA. Foundation is dedicated to bring social transformation without any bias towards religion, race, gender, class and creed. Our Objective: ''Empower people from rural areas and uplift their living standard through education, skill enhancement and health services by mobilizing local resources.''
Education • Foundation constructed for a block consisting 2 classrooms for Bal Prativa School of Kavre District. • Brought safe drinking water to Bhakramdevi Secondary School, Anekot-3, Kavre by laying pipes from the source. • A plot of about 2250.0 square meter (4-4-0-3) land dedicated to the school for drinking water possessing. • Three libraries established in three schools of Kavre. • Toilet foundations constructed for several schools of Kavre. • Pratisthan frequently distributes uniform dresses and stationaries to the needy school-going children. • Computers provided to Shree Bhawanisthan Secondary School • Pratisthan has been promoting ‘One Child One Donor Program’ for better education to the children of deprived households, for which $100 can suffice the cost of child education for a year. Support is welcome.
Health Pratisthan frequently organizes Free of cost Eye Screening Camps in different parts of the country. Pratisthan is also channeling financial support of NRs 50,000 each month to a community run health service center at Dhadkhola of Sindhupalchok.
Skill Development . Each Training lasts for 3 months
Women Empowerment • Women Education Program: Pratisthan has been providing six-month informal basic education training to women. Till this date, Pratisthan has provided education to 160 women of different ages in different regions of country. • Skill Based Training for Women: Pratisthan has been providing different skill based training to women in districts like Kavre, Morang and Sindhupalchok
Traffic Awareness Program • Pratisthan has been conducting various programs for the traffic awareness to reduce the road accident and increase road safety. Pratisthan frequently repaints the divider of the road at Kthmandu and Benpa. • Organizes the youth-targeted four-days traffic awareness workshops at different colleges of Kathmandu
Other Welfare Activities • Financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 was provided for educational scholarship for the two sons of missing journalist PrakashThakuri. • Pratisthan has supported the locals of Anekot VDC Ward Nos. 1 and 8 with NRs. 36,000 to pay the cost of bulldozers. Likewise Rs. 10,000 was provided to Ratapaira Road Construction Committee. • Pratisthan supported a sports program at Samajkalyan,Kavre (in 2068 B.S.) with NRs. 10,000. • Pratisthan provided financial assistance of NRs. 10,000 to Kantipur Reporter Mr. ManojBasnet as a relief support when his home was gutted down by fire. • World renowned Nepali cyclist Mr.Pushkar Shah was also provided with the financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 (March 11, 2010) for his endeavour to scale the Mount Everest. • Kidney failure patient Mr.Janak K.C., inhabitant of Rukum, Western Nepal was provided with financial assistance of Rs. 20,000 to support kidney transplant. His kidney transplantation succeeded and now he is healthy. • Provided financial support to different orphan homes like FCWC and Srijansil bal bikaskendra.
Support to Chepangs of Kanda Who are Chepangs? • Chepang people are Nepal’s ethnics community of chitwan and its surrounding districts living in ultra poverty situation • They do not dream of lavish food, but they worry more just for filling their own hungry bellies or of their children. • For them, to have two courses of meal around the year is a dream as they have to depend more on wild tubers for than 9 months of a year • Chepang’s children walk miles to their school just to get a small bowl of (gram flour) meal the government has been providing to school-going children.

This corn paste Dhindo is only available for 3 months. The only other option for food is heating the maize.
A small child attending the class without cloths which is a common scene. The number of students in class is few because of the remoteness of villages from school.
Most of the children are seen with swollen belly due to malnutrition. The children barely have clothes to cover up their body.
The condition of women is more pathetic. This young child is savoring the taste of gram flour mixed with little sugar and water in tiffin which is provided to her by the school.
Pratisthan has so far: • Distributed some seeds of beans and supported for planting 515 apple plants. • Distributed medicine, clothes and blankets. • Provided school uniform for 98 Chepang children.
Pratisthan’s Target • Facilitate construction of 69 homes for Chepangs of Kanda village. (One house for each family) • Conduct vocational, skill development and animal husbandry training programs towards creating their employment and income generation opportunities for them • Impart goat rearing and bee-keeping training and provide two goats and two beehives to each family • Initiate for the promotion of home stay tourism in Kanda. • Initiate for exploitation and marketing of locally available wild vegetation-based products like lokta paper.
