The News Archive: Not User-Friendly • One page per year – lots of stories, long page! • Stories have only a headline and summary • Clicking the headline plays the audio • Difficult to find an individual story without scrolling or using the “find” feature
What’s Changing? • We will have a completely redesigned News section • Main News page will have one featured story, plus the top stories from KPCC, NPR, and the BBC • One page per news story • Greatly improved navigation tools

One Page Per News Story • For KPCC news, we will have an entire page dedicated to each news story • When you click on a headline, you go to the story page for that story
Why One Page Per Story? • Industry Standard • Additional Web Content (transcripts, photos, extra audio, slideshows, video, links) • Stories easier to find – both on KPCC site, and from search engines
Improved News Staff Pages • There will be a single page presenting our entire News staff • Will include photos of our reporters in the field, plus links to individual staff pages
Improved News Staff Pages • Each member of the news staff has his or her own page • For reporters, this page will include both a biography plus a listing of all of that reporter’s stories (most recent first)

Better Navigation • The improved News section has a much clearer “sub-sections” navigation menu, making it easy to quickly jump to those pages • News archives now available by month/year • Our topic pages (Health, Education, etc.) are easier to jump to from any page in the News section • We have re-organized these topics, and added new ones
