What do Hindus believe about God? Hindus believe that there is one God. It is called Brahman. Brahman contains everything: creation and destruction, male and female, good and evil, movement and stillness. Because there are so many aspects of God, there are lots of deities to represent aspects of him.
The Trimurti There are three main aspects of Brahman (God) expressed through the Trimurti: * Brahma, the creator * Vishnu, the preserver * Shiva, the destroyer

Symbolism is used a lot in pictures of Hindu deities. • Symbolism is where there is an item or object which represents something else. • TASK:- • In pairs, look at your picture of Shiva. • What do you notice? • Label anything you notice, and any symbolism you can see. Shiva
Fire shows destruction. The dance symbolises the order of creation. Flame circle represents the never-ending cycle of life and death. The drum shows how one sound began creation. Shiva dances on the demon of human ignorance. Snake symbolises power.
