  1. 5 Reasons Why Students consider Suicide? Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in young people between the ages of 10 and 24, but it is the 10th leading cause of death for the overall population. Although firearms are the most frequently used method for death by suicide in the United States, the most frequent methods used by teenagers are hanging, jumping from high places, and overdosing on pills or other poisons. Quite unfortunate that people who have literally a life- time before them are the very ones who do not see the need to live. No one is born not wanting to live. Most of the times, life becomes too much. Sadly, in the world of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram no one realizes another person’s struggles. Everybody is busy and when it happens, everyone runs to social media with questions like” why man why? “Really now?” “Did you have to do it?” Here are five reasons why people attempt suicide and how we, as a society, can be more mindful of how we engage in this dialogue when someone does reach out: 1.When depression comes over: Over half of all attempted suicides are as a result of depression. Depression is sadness multiplied infinite times. It is darkness, pain, hopelessness, and anhedonia all inhabiting the same person. 2.Gets addicted to Drugs: Case on spot here is the seemingly “harmless” alcohol. Most depressed people tend to lose themselves in alcohol in an attempt to escape their persistent pathological melancholy. It works for some time, helps them forget themselves for some time, puts a song in their lips and gets them newer friends. But with time, it ceases to comfort them. Addiction can be a silent killer and is another leading cause of suicide. Not only does substance abuse increase the likelihood that someone will attempt suicide, it may even be used as part of the attempt. When people are under the influence of drugs and alcohol, their inhibitions can be lowered, their impulses can run the show and any existing mental health conditions can also be exacerbated. 3.When They lose all the hope: There are many complex reasons and factors that go into a suicide attempt, but possibly a most simple way to explain it is that the individual’s perception of their pain outweighs any hope they may have for the future. Yes, it does get better and there is support out there –but that doesn’t necessarily mean the person in question feels that way. The reality they may be living in might be quite different from the way you perceive their life from the outside.

  2. 4.Facing Abusiveness and Bullying: While this factor is inextricably connected to “a history of trauma,” it needs to be emphasized. Research has shown that domestic violence survivors are at a higher risk of suicide, with 23% of domestic violence survivors having attempted suicide. This includes not only physical abuse but also emotional and verbal abuse even getting bullied in the school premises. 5.Personality Abnormalities Then there are those who are kind of impulsive. They will fallout with girl-friends, threaten to kill themselves and they do. This is common among teenagers While you cannot fix the addiction for them or take responsibility for it, you can encourage them to get help and help them remember that they are absolutely worthy of getting quality care. Find healthy, sober activities you can do together that place a focus back on self-care. Remind them that you’re here for them and that you support their commitment to treatment and recovery.
