What is Forensic Photography? • Forensic Photography is the art of reproducing images of accident or crime • DETAILS ARE EVERYTHING • Bodies, injuries, shell casings, weapons, objects, blood stains, broken glass, etc. • This is done in order to aide court cases and investigations It can serve as evidence and provides explanation. • Other names for Forensic Photography: Crime Scene Photography and Forensic Imaging
History: • Alexander Gardner took the first crime photos in 1865 - Execution Series • 1871 – The French started taking CS Photos • 1900’s – Arthur Fellig AKA Weegee was first American Forensic Photographerduring the Gang violence reign
What is needed for Forensic Photography? • High tech, state of the art camera (must always be 35mm SLR camera with a metal body) • Macro, Normal, Wide Angle, and Zoom lens needed • Correct Exposure • Maximum depth of field • Sharp focus • Take shots at different angles • Flash- depending on situation
