Tihama’sStory Tihama, whose name refers to a magnificent beach of the Red Sea, is a blue water cruiser launched at builder 'Nautor’sSwan in Finland in October 1984, hull number 10 out of 19 boats built for the model 651. Tihama is the model with extended aft than the standard version, one meter more for an overall length of about 21 meters. It was designed by legendary yacht designer German Frers, the father of many models of the Nautor’s Swan ShipYard, based on experience gained in the construction of the previous model Swan 65, winner of two editions of the famous race around the world “Whitbread Round the World race”. Tihama has a depth of about 2.4 meters which allows advancing in shallow waters, but also presents the system of lifting keel draft up to 4 meters, to the benefit of stability and good sailing performance upwind. Tihama in the past has had three different owners and has spent her life mostly in the Caribbean with numerous ocean transfers. The long history of navigation of Tihama with curiosity may end up with a glance at the old log books supplied on the boat. In October 2008, exactly Twenty four years after it’s first launch, Tihama purchased by a new owner, took the sea from the port of Hamble (UK) in the Southampton’s bay for arriving - a journey of 2.500 miles – in the Mediterranean Sea for first time in the Gulf of Naples. From 2009 at today Tihama have had a lots of improvements and it is ready to sail our seas with her charm that wins with water lines and colors, wood, with solid and timeless structure. In the holiday onboard Tihama you can appreciate the qualities that make it unique. Nautor’sSwan 651Tihama
