  1. KX-TDA – Power Over Ethernet Solution PCCUK

  2. What is PoE? • PoE = ‘Power Over Ethernet’ • Use unmodified Cat5 cable to carry power to remote devices • Specified by IEEE in standard 802.3af • Compliant with 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T

  3. Why Use PoE? • Demonstration Solutions • Power IP phones and your data network from the same single mains socket, ideal for customer demonstration. • Emergency Solutions • Easily and quickly deployed, ideal for disaster recovery situations. • Event-based Solutions • Extend the reach of your services where traditional power would be inappropriate/unavailable. • Secure/Available Solutions • Centralized power management for mission critical devices, backed up by a centrally located UPS device.

  4. PCCUK Evaluated Solution 1/4 D-Link DES-1316K D-Link DES-1526 8+8 ports (8 PoE+LAN combined ports, 8 LAN ports), 10/100Mbps, VLAN, Port QoS, Trunking, web management interface 24 ports (24 PoE+LAN combined ports), 10/100 Mbps, VLAN, Port QoS, Auto-Sense Uplink, Trunking, web management interface

  5. PCCUK Evaluated Solution 2/4 • Simple installation – Literally ‘Plug and Play’ • Power over Ethernet 802.3af supported – Successfully tested with NT136 and NT265. Any other 802.3af compliant devices should also work (Such as 802.3af compliant Panasonic IP Cam – Please consult IP Cam specific documentation for further information regarding PoE compatibility) • Power Management – Centrally managed power can be protected against outages with the use of a single UPS attached to the switch • Support for VLANs – Traffic can be segregated into 802.1q compliant virtual local area networks • Port Based Quality of Service – Compliant with 802.1p to prioritise mission critical data across the network Please note – PCCUK have only tested model DES-1316K and only in conjunction with NT136 and NT265 IP-PT. Any other compatibility references are made based on the specifications given in the documentation supporting the devices.
