  1. Where The Red Fern Grows Project By: Leslie GT PAP ILA

  2. The Beginning • Ever since Billy Colman, a 11 yr. boy was infected with puppy-love disease, he has ask his father and mother so much to have two hounds that they have tried to help him, but they have made it worst than before. Then as Billy grows older, he has saved $50 to get his hounds.

  3. The Change Now, with his hounds, he will protect them no matter what happens. Like, when Little Ann(one of his hounds) gets in the river and holds on for her life. Billy does not know what to do so, he hides behind a tree, thinking fast on what to do. Then, he is able to save Little Ann by first taking his lantern’s handle and curving it like a hook, attaching it on a stick, without any clothes on(to save the warm , dry clothes for Little Ann) he goes into the freezing river and saves her. He risk his life to save Little Ann.

  4. Theme While in the Ozarks, Billy and his dogs go hunting for the first time. Little Ann, the smartest and Old Dan, who had the brawns, treed a coon. Like Billy promise them, he would get the coon out to the tree with his Sharp blade he would cut down the tree and his dog would get, and kill the coon, but the coon was in the largest tree in the Ozarks. He knew he couldn’t this, but he has to try. Sore and tired, it took more that three days to cut the tree down. Billy succeeded and Little Ann and Old Dan killed their very first coon in a hunt! This shows two themes, one keep your promises or you can’t be trusted, and two, never giving up.

  5. Setting As they hunt, they most likely hunt in the mountains in the Ozarks. One time Little Ann and Old Dan has scented a coon, the coon dashed to Cyclone Timber. There was once a cyclone and knocked down all the trees, so that is how Cyclone Timbers got its name. That was a legend passed down.
