  2. If you are fluent in something…. • “you have attained such a comfort level with it that its use is unconscious or automatic” (Jukes, McCain, & Crockett, 2001). The six basic categories of 21st Century Skills focus on skill fluency rather than just basic understanding.

  8. Provide students with various search engines to be used when researching their famous chemist. Review proper search techniques. Allow use of netbooks and iPods to search for scholarly information. Example of Information Fluency

  14. “Juxio : from juxtaposition, the placement of 2 or more elements together to create new meaning”(Gibson, Younger W., Gormley, & Younker B., 2001) • Students create a Jux on juxio.com to tell a story about the importance of stoichiometry in obtaining reliable lab data. Students are to base their story on a lab performed in class. Example of Creativity Fluency

  17. Students create a course description brochure to have on display at parent teacher conferences to communicate the content of the class. These brochures should include summary of individual course units. Example of Media Fluency

  18. Students should be consistent and aware of who they are when establishing their digital selves 6. Digital citizen

  20. At the beginning of the trimester, students will be educated about acceptable language when posting on the class discussion board twice a week. Students will perform self-evaluation as well as evaluation of peers’ posts. Example of Digital Citizen
