Career • Author • Wrote many books about the topics of weaponry. • Ranging from gun safety, to practice shooting to crime. • Involvement with the NRA (National Rifle Association) • Joined the NRA in 1977. • Since 1991, he has served as the executive vice president and the chief executive officer. Currently the CEO. • He has spoken to the public many times representing the NRA.

  3. Credentials Degree • Obtained his BA in education from Sienna College and his MA in government from Boston College. Post College • Right after obtaining his MA, LaPierre, became a government lobbyist and activist, including positions with the American Conservative Union and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. • In 1977 joined the NRA.

  4. Political Affiliation • An advocate of the right to bear and to keep arms. • Mobilized the NRA against Democratic nominees for president in 2004, 2008 and 2012. • He is against Obama, often claims that Obama spent a lifetime trying to destroy the 2nd amendment.“Why should I or the N.R.A. go sit down with a group of people that have spent a lifetime trying to destroy the Second Amendment in the United States,” he asked.

  5. Beliefs Supports • Having armed security at all schools. • Creating a mental health registry. • Increased enforcement of federal laws against felons or violent gang members with guns. Opposes • Universal Background Checks • Gun Control • Limiting on publics ability to purchase semi-automatic weapons. • The Assault Weapons Ban of 2013
