This presents an increasing urgency for culturally sensitive mental health and rehabilitation services for the Latino population
Shortage of Latino providers to deliver such services
On average, 29 Latino mental health professionals for every 100,000

To gain an understanding of the importance of peer support in regards to the Latino community

Five month in class training
Four months paid community internship
Skills based knowledge of supportive services in mental health system
Enhance self-awareness, self advocacy, and empowerment
Peer support
9. 9/21/2012 9 CONTAC Leadership Academy Training program involving citizenship, advocacy, leadership, and organizational skills for consumers.
CONTAC completed a Spanish translation of the program, parts of which they will pilot in this project.
