  1. Disclosure Services • Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services • the new name for CRBS • if previously enrolled then your registration has carried forward Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services is funded to specifically process Disclosure applications for the voluntary sector in Scotland. If you are a qualifying voluntary organisation we will be able to process your PVG checks for volunteer positions free of charge.

  2. The PVG legislation allows for disclosure checks to be undertaken for those in regulated work with, • Children and/or • Protected Adults

  3. PVG went live in February 2011 • Until October 2012 you could only PVG check new staff or volunteers. • Retrospective checking started in October 2012

  4. Retrospective Checking • A retrospective check is a PVG check on someone who has been undertaking regulated work with you since before the implementation of PVG. • The retrospective checking phase lasts until October 2015 • Its your decision when to undertake a retrospective check. • If you have not completed your retrospective checking by October 2015 you may have committed an offence. • It is an offence for an organisation to employ someone who is barred from undertaking regulated work.

  5. What if a retrospective check comes back as barred? • What if a retrospective check comes back as under consideration for listing? • What if the retrospective check doesn’t bar them but the released information is serious enough for you to question their suitability? • CAN WE USE A SELF DECLARATION? • WHEN? • WHY? • Can be used for both retrospective and new applications
