At What Age Does Obesity Become A Concern? • There is no true answer • “ Life long effects on an individuals pattern of genetic expression and therefore on the tendency to develop obesity and certain diseases.”
Is a Plump Infant Ever Obese? • Gaining weight begins early (even in the womb) • In fact, babies with the highest body mass index or those who gained the most weight during their first two years were more prone to be obese at every stage of their lives -- child to adult -- than those of a normal weight.
Your Child May Suffer From Obesity if: • Early size • Early body fat • High birth weight • Having obese parents • Quick growth from ages 1-2 • Watching more than eight hours of TV a week • Getting less than 10.5 hours of sleep at night
