  1. NVIDIA FORMS PARTNERSHIPS WITH RELIANCE AND TATA TO STRENGTHEN ITS INVESTMENT IN AI IN INDIA

  2. U.S. semiconductor company Nvidia (NVDA.O) announced partnerships with Indian conglomerates Reliance Industries and Tata Group on Friday, aiming to collaborate on cloud infrastructure, language models, and generative applications in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). These collaborations with two of India's major business entities will enable Nvidia to strengthen its presence in India's emerging AI landscape. This comes at a time when the company faces challenges in exporting certain chips to China and other nations due to U.S. regulations. Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explore India's potential in the AI sector. This meeting took place just before the G20 summit in New Delhi, attended by delegates including U.S. President Joe Biden.

  3. n its partnership with Reliance, Nvidia will provide the computing power necessary for developing a cloud-based AI infrastructure platform. Reliance's subsidiary, Jio, will manage and maintain this infrastructure and oversee customer engagement. Nvidia stated, "Reliance will create AI applications and services for their 450 million Jio (telecom) customers and provide energy-efficient AI infrastructure to scientists, developers, and startups across India." Additionally, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's leading software services exporter, will utilize Nvidia's partnership to build generative AI applications and a supercomputer. TCS plans to enhance the skills of its extensive workforce of 600,000 employees through this collaboration.

  4. This collaboration is expected to drive AI-led transformations across various Tata Group companies, spanning industries from manufacturing to consumer businesses. Globally, Nvidia dominates the computing systems used to power services like ChatGPT, an influential generative AI chatbot developed by OpenAI. Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani has emphasized the necessity for digital infrastructure in India capable of handling the computational demands of AI. The partnership with Nvidia will grant Reliance access to the latest version of Nvidia's Grace Hopper Superchip, specialized AI chips designed to efficiently perform AI inference tasks, such as those powering apps like ChatGPT. Reliance anticipates that this new AI infrastructure will accelerate several critical AI projects in India, including chatbots, drug discovery, and climate research.
