Instructions for DP Approval Slides I • Plots: • Fonts • Large for readability • Standard fonts : • Arial , Times New Roman, or similar • Do not use Comic Sans MS • Add “Preliminary” label • CMS Preliminary MC • CMS Preliminary 2009 900 GeV etc • Date • Label Axes and units. E.g. • E [GeV] • pT [GeV/c] • M [GeV/c2] • Plot Captions: • In a separate text box include a very succinct summary of the key info • Include also: • Contact person/email • Link to talk given for the approval • Link to more detailed information on event selection etc. • Link to a reasonably high resolution copy of the plot(s) in useful formats like jpeg or gif and eps • Date of plot if not on plot
Instructions for DP Approval Slides II • Event displays: • Include 2 copies of each display – one with dark and one with light background • Include • CMS Experiment at the LHC, CERN • Date Recorded • Run/Event • One line description (optional) • Fonts (same as for plots) • Large for readability • Standard fonts : • Arial , Times New Roman, or similar • Do not use Comic Sans MS • Include information regarding the displays in a separate text box or separate slide. • Label info box or slide with run/event number • Contact person/email • Include succinct description of display • Link to talk given for the approval • Include link to more detailed info when necessary • Include link to high resolution jpeg or other standard electronic format of display
Instructions for DP Approval Slides III • Multiple plots and or displays: • When several plots and displays are shown from a single analysis, all the information about the plots and displays could be condensed on a single slide following the instructions on the previous pages • Examples are given in the next few slides
Tracking PT • Information • Contact: Thomas Speer speer@cern.ch • Presented for approval December 16, 2010 • http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=76852 • Events with 5 to 100 tracks • Tracks with "highPurity" flag • at lease 8 hits • relative error on pT < 10% • No cut on h or pT • More details of the analyses for Tracking results in this and next slide are found at • https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/CMS/TRKApprovedResults900GeV • High resolution copies of plots are available at the same link (GeV/c)
Data samples and cuts: Slides 6-8 • Contact Mikko Voutilainen mikko.voutilainen@cern.ch • Presented for approval december 16, 2010 see: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=76852 • Minimum Bias @900 GeV and 2.36 TeV re-reconstructed with CMSSW 3.3.2 and new beam spot (prompt reco, official PD, SD and P. Janot's PF skim) • Require technical bit 40||41, BSC hits, Physics Declared • Good vertex with ntracks>1 & |z_vtx|<20cm, “halo” removal • Look at two leading JEC-corrected jets with DeltaPhi(jet1,jet2) > 2.1 passing loose JetID at |eta| < 2.4 and pT(corr) > 10 GeV Good Runs for JETS: 123596, 123615, 123732, 123815, 123818, 124006, 124009, 124017, 124018, 124019, 124020, 124021, 124022, 124023, 124024, 124025, 124028, 124029 Good Runs for MET: 124020, 124022, 124023
