Saludos y Despedidas. When greeting someone it is customary to shake hands. Many people also exchange a kiss on the cheek or a hug. The greeting changes with the time of the day. Hola. (oh-la). This expression can be used by anyone at anytime. Buenos d ías is used in the morning.

  1. Saludos y Despedidas

  2. When greeting someone it is customary to shake hands. Many people also exchange a kiss on the cheek or a hug. The greeting changes with the time of the day.

  3. Hola. (oh-la)

  4. This expression can be used by anyone at anytime.

  5. Buenos días is used in the morning. (B-way-nos-dee-ahs)

  6. Buenas tardes is used in the afternoon and early evening. (B-way-nas-tar-days)

  7. Buenas noches is used at night. (B-way-nas-no-chays)

  8. These expressions are all used to say good-bye. (Despedidas=Farewells)

  9. Adiós Means Good-bye

  10. Hasta mañana literally means “until tomorrow”

  11. Hasta luego Means: “see you later”

  12. See you soon!

  13. Nos vemos (Used to express that you and another person expect to see each-other later in the day or in the near future.)

  16. If you want to find out someone’s name you can ask:

  17. ¿Cómo te llamas?

  18. To answer that question you say: Me llamo _________ (My name is ______)

  19. As a polite gesture, you should say: “Encantado” which is one way to say nice to meet you!

  20. Boys: You have to use the form: Encantado

  21. Girls: You say “Encantada”

  22. You can also say “es un placer” which means “it’s a pleasure”

  23. Or you can say also “Mucho gusto” which means “Nice to meet you”

  24. You can respond to “Nice to meet you” also by saying: “El gusto es mío.” which means: The pleasure is all mine.

  25. If you want to find out a person’s name you don’t know you can ask someone:

  26. ¿Cómo se llama?“What is his or her name?”
