4. Community Domain The neglect and disintegration of the once cohesive lower- and middle-income families has also had a negative impact on the graduation and dropout rates of minority students. Typically, these communities are characterized by high rates of crime, unemployment, poverty, and educational deficits.

5. Family Domain The inability to stabilize and preserve the family institution has had a profound effect on the school dropout rates. This is particularly true for minority communities which consists of a blend of extended and communal families.

6. Educational and Professional Development Domain Individuals who are poorly educated and inadequately prepared to meet the needs of a continually changing workforce also adversely impact our individual and collective well-being and security.

7. Individual Domain Major components of the individual risk factor domain include social bonding, peer influence, drug use, and mental health issues. The degree to which these issues impact a youth’s life influences their choices and chances of reaching his/her fullest potential.

Education Plan of Action • Conduct a data driven assessment • Individual Domain • Family Domain • Educational Domain • Community Domain (on campus and off campus) • Develop a Plan of Action (based on assessment) to get from point A to point B (process/journey to improvement) • Develop internal (campus, faculty, students, etc.) and external (broader community, local, state and federal agencies and faith and community-based organizations, etc.) collaborative partnerships to assist with achieving the goals of the Plan of Action • Establish well defined roles and responsibilities for each collaborative partner • Develop a method to evaluate progress
