ADSL Overview • ADSL networks are made up of 3 distinct segments: • The Loop Segment providing communication between the customer premise equipment (DSL-Modem) and the exchange equipment (DSLAM). • The Access Segment providing communication between the DSLAM at the access and the Aggregator located with the Region Broadband Provider. • The Service Provider Segment providing communication between the Aggregator and the ISP. • Connection and session information across each segment must be mapped in order to provide the linkage between IP address and location.
