Neil Armstrong Professor: What REALLY happened out there with Apollo 11? Armstrong: It was incredible, of course we had always known there was a possibility, the fact is, we were warned off!(by the Aliens). There was never any question then of a space station or a moon city. Professor: How do you mean "warned off"? Armstrong: I can't go into details, except to say that their ships were far superior to ours both in size and technology - Boy, were they big!...and menacing! No, there is no question of a space station. Professor: But NASA had other missions after Apollo 11? Armstrong: Naturally - NASA was committed at that time, and couldn't risk panic on Earth. But it really was a quick scoop and back again. Armstrong confirmed that the story was true but refused togo into further detail, beyond admitting that the CIA was behindthe cover-up.

Discussion: • Within your group discuss the things that stand out in this case? • What are the things that support the belief and what are the things that go against them?
Take a moment… • Write down and discuss things that support your argument? • What can you say to make this evidence compelling? • What can you say to dispute this evidence?
The words of Carl Sagan…Astronomer. "The more we want it to be true, the more careful we have to be. No witness' say-so should be good enough. People make mistakes. People play practical jokes. People stretch the truth for money or attention or fame. People occasionally misunderstand what they are seeing. People sometimes even see things that are not there." (Carl Sagan. 1996.)
Say what?... N = N* Fp Ne F1 FiFc Fl means… N is the number of communicating civilizations in the Universe. N* is the number of stars in the Milky Way. Our galaxy. Fp is the number of stars with planets around them. Ne is the number of planets that could sustain life. F1 is the number of THOSE planets where life evolved. Fi is the number of THOSE planets where intelligent life evolves. Fc is the number of THOSE planets that communicate. Fl is how long THOSE planets exist. Now, there 100 billion stars in the Milky Way. Current estimates are that between 20 and 50 percent of those stars have planets. It is thought that between 1 and 5 of those planets are capable of sustaining life. Life could begin on anywhere between none and all of those planets. Let's say it does on 10% of them. Intelligent life may or may not exist on any of those, but just for the sake of argument, let's say it does on 1%. The Earth has a life span of about 10 billion years. Life has been here for almost half a billion years. There's no telling how long it will remain.
