  1. Impacts of IT ... Its more important than you think!

  2. Social You must admit, we all love our gadgets! From straightners to PS3, its hard for us to imagine living without them! IT is a important part of today's society. The use of IT has increased loads in 40 years! Although most people love their gadgets, some people don’t like them. They think that they have made their lives more difficult and would make their lives more difficult.

  3. Effects On Local Communities Negative impacts: Some people spend more time alone with a computer than out with their friends in the sunshine! Most people are buying things off the internet, this means small shops aren't getting much business!

  4. Effects On Local Communities Positive Impacts: The internet helps you keep in contact with friends and family you may have ALL over the world! People can talk to their friends over chat sites, even if they are on holiday! Old and disabled people can get their shopping delivered to the door… this means they don’t have to struggle to get out of the house!

  5. Employment structure and working practices Negative impacts: Some people have lost their jobs because of IT. This is because machines can do the job quicker than humans in some cases! Some peoples jobs have changed. Computers are used more so people have to be trained to use them! Positive impacts: New and exiting jobs have been made! Adults with babies or disabilities can work at home, so they don’t have to leave the house!

  6. Sustainability Electronics use energy. Using energy does not only cost money but is bad for the environment. Where we live, if something breaks we throw it away. Is there something else we could do instead? What are your ideas on how we could dispose of our old electrical items?

  7. Legal If you buy any CD’s or DVD’s you can not copy them and upload them on to the internet or give them to a friend. This is as this action is ILLEGAL. It is against the law to: Give a copy to a friend Making a copy and then selling it Uploading a CD or DVD to the internet DON’T DO THIS!

  8. The Computer Misuse Act This is to keep your private stuff private! • Do not look on other peoples computers without permission! • Do not hack computers! E.g.; hacking into the bank's computer to change the amount of money you have • Do not delete or change things on someone's computer, e.g. making a virus to destroy someone things or actually changing the money in an account.

  9. Ethnical Almost everything you do is recorded! CCTV, using your mobile, internet searches, what you put online, when you visit the hospital, any contact with the police.....the list goes on Every time you go on the internet you leave a “digital footprint.” This means that people can trace any website you have ever been on or any pictures or status you may have uploaded in the past. All your information Is stored in the Data Protection Act. these people know who you are!

  10. Unequal Access Access Not everyone who lives in the UK can get the internet. This is because they live too far away from a telephone pole and it’s too expensive for cable companies to lay the cables. Age Some older people find it difficult to use technology. This is becoming a big problem as a lot of services are becoming internet-based – online banking, paying bills, online shopping and so on. • Price • Not everyone can afford to pay for internet access, especially with prices changing on where you live. Plus, it’s not just the internet you’re paying for; it’s a computer or laptop too.

  11. Global In England we are use to having the internet and Google all the time. There is a real fear that some countries will get left behind, especially as the internet and technology are a big part of life today. Many governments are trying to stop this by providing schools with computers. Literacy Most of the internet includes text; this means you have to be able to read and write to use the internet.

  12. Computers in Uganda Some places in the world, like Uganda don’t have the technology we have here in England. This is because they don’t have the tools to do this. Mobile phone service is getting bigger quicker, but their still isn't many of main land lines. By 2007 there were nearly 150 radio and 35 TV stations. There is nowhere near as many as the UK as not many families own television sets.
