INTRODUCTION • This presentation serves to provide a report on contracts awarded to entities where women are either members (Close Corporations) or Directors ((PTY) LTD). • The information regarding women membership or directorship has been obtained from CIPC. • The presentation provides the disability representation of entities that were awarded contracts.

  3. What challenges are we facing with regards to awarding contracts to woman and PWD controlled businesses • Public Sector Supply Chain Management Framework in its current form is not responsive to objectives of the stakeholders such as politicians, pressure groups, NGO and CBOs regarding the advancement of categories of people who where disadvantaged by unfair discrimination that was in place before 1994. • National Treasury issued a practice note SCM no 2 of 2006 that prohibits public sector supply chain management institutions from implementing setasides that would have made practical impact in terms of advancing targeted groups of society for empowerment.
