  3. WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP Share some thoughts with me about the worship service you experienced earlier. What were your observations? What did you like? What did you not like?

WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • WORSHIP MINISTRY GOALS • Our desire is to lead people into the experience of worship through music, prayer and the preaching of God’s Word. • We seek to provide safe, non threatening worship experiences where people truly experience the presence of God. • Provide an atmosphere where people, no matter where they are spiritually, will be challenged to take their next step with God. • For those who have not accepted Jesus to be led to know Him as Savior and Lord.

WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • We recognize that excellent worship services don’t just happen. • We are deeply committed to do whatever it takes to provide a quality worship experience every week. • This has nothing to do with worship style. • We are committed to a spirit of excellence in our worship of God. • We attempt to “swing for the fence” every week.

WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • We recognize that excellent worship services don’t just happen. • We put the same care and preparation into these services that we would an evangelistic meeting. • We practice our music, sound and lyrics before Sabbath. • We do everything we can to limit the unpredictable.

  7. WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • We recognize that excellent worship services don’t just happen. • Our worship service in many ways is a journey. We have a destination in mind and everything must work together to achieve our goal. • We are very careful with the potential “service killers” • Announcements • Children’s story • Offering • Transitions

WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • We saturate our services with prayer. • The Bible says we are to be a house of prayer for all people • We start at 6am by phone praying for God’s blessing • Fresh Start 8:30am in our Prayer Room • We pray for those who are celebrating life events • We pray for the sick • We offer a Garden of Prayer • We offer prayer at the altar after the service • House of Prayer services

  9. WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • We celebrate what God is doing. • We go out of our way to acknowledge when God is doing something in our midst. • Carefully done testimonies • Answers to prayers • Baptisms • Transfers

WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • In many ways, we treat our weekly worship service just like an evangelistic meeting. • We understand it may be the only spiritual experience some people have all week. • We will do frequent appeals. • I stress completing the Connection Card • I always end by staying at the alter and inviting people up to me.

WORSHIP THAT IS MORE THAN FORM WORSHIP • Other thoughts • If you use technology, make sure it adds and doesn’t distract • Be thoughtful about picking participants • Climate is important, I try to keep it on the cool side • Preach Biblically based sermons • Constantly evaluate your worship services (Post Mortem)
