  3. Agenda Why we need to audit the PPSO • Stage One of the audit • Confirm the Reasons for the PPSO • What Does Your PPSO Provide • Stage Two of the audit • Defining the Needs now of the Users of the PPSO (both supply and demand)

  4. Why we need to audit the PPSO • The needs of the users may have changed • Our skills etc may have changed • Are we supporting yesterday’s organisation or today's – what about tomorrow’s? • Do we provide the right tools and infrastructure? • Are we working at the right level?

  5. Confirm the reasons for the PPSO • Review the PPSO’s Terms of Reference (especially who owns it) • Review the PPSO’s Business Case • Review who owns Your Programme and Project Support Infrastructure?

  6. What does your PPSO provide? Make a Catalogue of your: • Standards • Skills • Consultancy and or Body Shop Services • Infrastructure and Information Support • Project Management Framework Support (Tools, Techniques, Templates, etc) • Estimating Information • Risk Catalogues • Product review reports • Project and Development Lifecycles

  7. The questions to ask • When was it* developed • When was it last reviewed • How often was it used last year * It - is everything in the Catalogue

  8. Re- defining the needs of the users of the PPSO • The Senior Managers – What do they NEED with • Other Managers - How can we help them do their job better • Programme and Project Managers- What added value can we provide • Internal and External Audit – What can we do to help them

  9. Summary • Audit First - what are you doing right and what is a success and vice versa • The organisation only values what provides it with value • PPSO should be targeted towards Value Added Services not being an overhead
