PORTUGUESE NAN Comissão Portuguesa da Década do Osso e da Articulação • Key projects in 2009 • New North Rehabilitation Hospital “dream” is now a reality • Project concluded • Financial contract signed in July • Construction of the buildings will start now • The coordinator and the consultation team of the project belong to the • BJD Portuguese NAN (PRM, Rheumatology, Orthopedics) • Impact: It will cover the Rehab needs in terms of “in-patient programs” of all the north region of Portugal • To be open in 2011 BJD GLOBAL NETWORK CONFERENCE October 23 – 24, 2009, WASHINGTON DC, USA • Key patients group activities and outcome • Next world day of Osteoporosis day with a special musical event (Classical Music Gala in the most emblematic Concert Hall of Porto with the Oporto National Orchestra) organized by the Associação Portuguesa de Osteoporosis one of the patients organizations integrating the Portuguese NAN. It will have a great media impact • Many meetings of other patients associations took place along the year The National plan against Rheumatic diseases continue under the support of the Portuguese Govern The Emergency Network of Trauma beeing developed The Campaign against road victims stays a success in Portugal. In 2007 we reached already the goals which were expected only for 2010 (number of deaths and wounded) Key development plan for 2010 In 2010 the Portuguese NAN will organize a big event to commemorate the end of the Bone and Joint Decade presenting all the achievements of the Campaign in Portugal and all over the world. The creation of a “Bone and Joint Forum” will be proposed to succeed to the NAN. Through this plan we will try to keep working in the same goals of the BJD Campaign and take advantage of the structures already founded as well as keeping the links of our Medical Scientific Societies and Patient Organizations and Governmental Institutions
