From paper to digital work plans how will the transition to digital work plans influence teaching in primary classrooms? Nils Otto Steen
Help focus • Elaborate research question(s) • Analytical tool(s) • CHAT (DWR/work shops, ‘Mirror data’) • ANT • Field work preparation • From talk to action • How is it practically done?
The use of work plans in brief • 2 - 3 weeks learning contract between teacher and pupil • Learning goals • Assignments • Freedom to choose when and how
Intentions • A tool for pedagogical differentiation/adapted education • Self regulated learning • Enhanced learning
But… • Individual privatized forms of learning • Low pressure on learning • Klette (2007) • Bergem (2009) • “The invisible teaching method” • Alexander (2001) • Gender difference
Paper based vs. digital work plans Paper based • Printout every second week - episodic • Same for everyone Digital • More dynamic and flexible? • More…not a work plan..?
My claims/hypothesis • When digitalized and implemented • the teachers and the pupils will no longer use the expression ‘work plan’ • other opportunities for organizing learning activities will unfold
