Standard 6: Contribution to Academic Success • Are students better off for knowing you or attending our school? • Based on EOG, EOC or MSL • Either individual or school-wide data is utilized • What is the state implicitly saying when it uses school wide data for teachers that do not currently have individual data? • All teachers will have a standard 6 rating from this year on • Official start of Standard 6 rating will be at end of this year
Standard 6; Contribution to Academic Success All teachers employed in 2011-12 will have a rating for Standard 6 (~September, 2012) Students data from 2011-12 will be used These standard 6 results will not be used in calculating 3-year rolling average for Teacher Effectiveness. You can look at is as a “Dry Run” Student achievement results from 2012-13 will be used as first official data for all teachers to determine rating for Standard 6
Teacher Effective Status (In Need of Improvement, Effective & Highly Effective) • Status is determined by a combination of performance on first 5 standards and growth on standard 6 • A single overall status is determined once a teacher has 3 years of growth data to populate standard 6 and a rolling average can be calculated. • Performance rating on the 5 standards for the 3rd year of the rolling average are used • Data from 2012-13 will be the 1st year of official data for all teachers for standard 6 • First year for Status report is fall 2015

North Carolina Educator Evaluation System • Mgt. system for teacher evaluation process • Each school site has a NCEES coach • Help, support & communication • Username (UID) issues • Upcoming teacher responsibilities: • Orientation (2 step process) • Access NCEES platform • Self-assessment
Orientation to the Teacher Evaluation Process • Online process (facilitated at school site) • Two-step process • 1st in Schoolwires 2nd in NCEES • Will be completed within 10 days of start of contract • Teacher reads and reviews in Schoolwires: • Teacher • Evaluation Rubric • Observation and Licensure Guide • Evaluation Policy/Process • Digitally authenticates completion in Schoolwires • Completion report sent to NCEES coach • Administrator authenticates Record Sheet, then teacher does
Accessing the Annual Orientation to Teacher Evaluation Process • Sign in to issschoolwires • Select Departments • Select Human Resources • Select Evaluation Resources • Read directions in white section • When comfortable with the 3 documents, click the Digital Signature link • Complete form • Administration will notify you when you can complete 2nd step in NCEES
PDP Update • If teacher had a summative evaluation in I-SS last school year then a PDP for this year was generated • It will be labeled: Professional Development Plan for 2012-2013 and is located under the Teacher Tab • If they do not have a PDP, they will need to create one from the Observe/Report page • If you have a PDP already it will ask are you sure you want another one • Both administrator and teacher can write on form
Use what you need • Note to facilitator optional slide for activities follow, after them are additional specific directions for lost password, self assessment, • Direction for PDP to follow
Digging into the Teacher Evaluation Rubric • In small groups review the following Elements • Think what is would look like and sound like in the context of the following questions: • What strategies would you use? • What processes would you have in place? • How would you engage students?
1a. Teachers lead in their classrooms.(Proficient) • Takes responsibility for the progress of students to ensure that they graduate from high school. • Provides evidence of data driven instruction throughout all classroom activities. • What strategies would you use? • What processes would you have in place? • How would you engage students?
2a. Accessing NCEES • I-SS Home Page > Staff > NCEES • Select the correct school district • Type in the username that was provided to you (10 digit number) • Type in the password that was provided to you (123456 is password for first time in) • Click Login
Forgot Password Click “Lost Password” on Home Page and follow directions. Then change the given password to something that works for you (See next slide).
Change Password Then click on mxWeb
To Create a New Self-Assessment for 2012-13 • 1. Click on NCEES Icon • 2. Select “New Self-Assessment • 3. Change Self Assessment Name • include today’s date 1 2 3
1. Select Date & Teacher Status (See Administrator if not sure.) 2. Enter start time 4. Enter start end time. Check “I have completed my self assessment.” Check “The principal can view my self assessment.” Click “Done” 3. Complete self-assessment by checking all appropriate boxes in front of descriptors
To Re-access Self-Assessment • Do not click “New Self-Assessment” (This will generate a whole new document. Click “Observation” instead.
