Introduction Slow Controls Power Supply AOB States OFF STANDBY ON OFF & FAULT Conditions A DEFECT is a condition which will cause an interlock. A NOMINAL condition is one in which there are no interlocks and hence no DEFECTs. State Diagram for Special Magnet power supplies Commands OFF STANDBY ON RESET GLOBAL OFF which is a state of the power supply in which the entire system (including CONTROL/ELECTRONICS and any AUXILIARY services) is switched off through a main circuit breaker. Manual action is required to transition the power supply from the GLOBAL OFF condition into the OFF state: a transition from the GLOBAL OFF condition into any other state is not permitted. Introduction Slow Controls Power Supply AOB Triggers • Selection of a trigger interface for Special Magnets Power Supplies • Magnet current rise times up to 21GA/s (MTH) • Need for noise immunity and robustness Standard used for CERN CTRV Timing Modules: SN64BCT25244 three-state line drivers 0-5V With LEMO EPL.00.250.NTN connector more Information Information about optical trigger interfaces in noisy environment: A 25-kV 75-kHz kicker for measurement of muon lifetime Tobias Stadlbauer
Introduction Slow Controls Power Supply AOB LEBT Fast Deflector 3d Electric Field Simulation PSpice Power Supply Simulation • EFE and PS are build in-house • Rise/Fall time directly related to circuit design and choice of components: • → waiting for definitive values • Test Bench will be available • Opportunity to test FEC in HV-Environment Tobias Stadlbauer
Introduction Slow Controls Power Supply AOB Risk Analyzes Chopper Dipole System • Risk analyzes for MKC and PKC has been started • Weekly meeting with CERN Experts • This process will need input from the whole team • Affected WPs will be invited to attend Tobias Stadlbauer
Introduction Slow Controls Power Supply AOB Planning • LEBT Deflector system: • Electrostatic deflector: study finished, design mid-Jan.,2011 • Generator and Controls: Spec. mid Jan., Design mid Feb., • Prototype: Sept 2011 • Study and specify fast pulsed magnets control: • Mid-Jan. 2011 • Study + specify control for electromagnetic septa • End Week 9, 2011 + • ongoing activities (e.g. slow controls): End June 2011 • (PS produced by TE-EPC, - any outstanding issues to clarify?) • Study, specify and produce control for electrostatic septa with focus on motorization prototyping and high voltage power supply specification • End August, 2011 • Specification for control interface to kicker and bumper power supplies have to be ready by mid January 2011.
