Think • Use anti-spyware software as well as firewall, and update them regularly. • Firewall is to help prevent hackers using your computer to send out your personal information without your permission. • Anti-virus software protects your computer from viruses that can destroy your data. • Slows your computer performance, cause a crash, and ect…
Click • Be sure to set up your operating system and web browser software properly and update regularly. • Hackers take advantage of web browser (like windows, or linux) that are unsecured. • Keep your passwords in a secure place and out of plain view
Protect your passwords!!! • Don’t share your passwords. • Hackers may try to find out your passwords to access. • The longer the password, the harder to crack. • Avoid common words. • Don’t use personal info, your login name.
Back up important files. • No system is impenetrable. • Copy important files onto a important disc you can remove and store in a safe place. • Following these tips you are more likely to stay secure online
Learn to contact if something goes wrong • Immediately disconnect your machine from the internet. • Alert the appropriate authorities. • Your ISP and if found the hacker’s ISP (if you can tell what it is) • The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov
