Gmail’s layout and appearance • layout/arrangement of the home page • remove “webclips” and ads (Ad Blocker for Gmail) • display scaling • visual themes • various inbox arrangements
email composition • Four views • the “pop-up” window (default) • the “foreground” window • in its own tab (ctrl+click) • in its own window (shift+click)
reading processing email efficiently • “inbox zero”: the inbox is a to-do list • “touch it once”: decide immediately • the decision: 4 possible actions per email • 1. ditch it • 2. do it now • 3. delegate it • 4. defer it • Gmail tools that help: threading and archiving
