  2. East China Sea Pollution Causes

  3. Ocean Pollution Effects

  4. Ocean Pollution Statistics

  5. Coastal Provinces Population

  6. Dead zones

  7. Ocean acidification

  8. Mercury pollution

  9. Rising sea levels

  10. Coral reefs

  11. Overfishing Facts • China is first in the countries that most harvest fish • Cod, Hake, and other fish have dropped 95% • 200 meters below sea level • Illegal fishing contributes

  12. Bycatch Facts • The following have been affected: • Many whales, sharks, turtles, and seabird • Red snappers • Invertebrate

  13. Effects on China • 80% of all fishermen will suffer • 80-90% of all boats in 2012 were unused • China mostly uses trawl and set nets • 90% of fish have already been caught

  14. GREENPEACE ASIA • Greenpeace is a non-governmental organization who campaigns on global environmental issues • The key threats that Greenpeace’s Defending our Oceans Campaign addresses includes Industrial fishing, by-catch, unfair fisheries, global warming, and pollution.

  15. Our Goals: The Greenpeace Defending Our Oceans Campaign hopes for stronger regulations for the fishing industry and campaigns for the end to destructive fishing practices.

  16. Pacific Marine Reserves

  17. Solutions • Reduce CO2 emissions and greenhouse gas emissions through less reliance on fossil fuels • Use more renewable, sustainable energy sources • Pollute less; recycle more • Use less agrochemicals • More sustainable fishing practices • Better legislation and regulation
