What all do I Know About the Planets? Think about these questions through out this week and record your answers in your science journals. -How many planets are there in our solar system and what are their names? -What are the surfaces of the planets like? -How many moons does each planet have? -Are we the only solar system in space?
How Many Planets are in the Solar System, and What are Their Names? • There are now 8 planets in our solar system. • Mercury • Venus • Earth • Mars • Jupiter • Saturn • Uranus • Neptune
What are the Surfaces of the Planets Like? • Mercury: very rocky much like our moon. Covered in craters. • Venus: Is VERY hot and cloudy • Earth: Covered will bodies of water, surrounded with a atmosphere so we can survive. • Mars: Has mountains craters and may have once contained water. • Jupiter: The largest of all the planets and isn't sold but gassy. • Saturn: Has rings around it that are made of gas. It also has spots on the planet where storms are occurring • Uranus: Is a blue color and is a gas planet with clouds surrounding it. • Neptune: Is also blue with very fast moving winds and has storms on the surface.
How Many Moons Does Each Planet Have? • Mercury- 0 • Venus- 0 • Earth- 1 • Mars- 2 • Jupiter- 16 • Saturn- 18 • Uranus- 15 • Neptune- 8
Are we the Only Solar System in Space? • No we are not the only solar system in space we are not sure how many exactly until recently they found out we weren't the only one!
