OASIS Mentor Practicum Encourage students to think critically & question belief systems, while still honoring home cultures & identities • Curriculum: • Understanding oppression through the lens of Harro’s Cycle of Socialization (Readings for Diversity & Social Justice) • Racism, classism, multiracial perspectives, LGBTQIA perspectives, sexism, & ableism • Developing strategies for social change & promoting Harro’s Cycle of Liberation (Readings for Diversity & Social Justice) • Before helping others, important to understand & help yourself first

Academic Transition Counselors • Foundation of Summer Bridge Residential Life • Key players in retention & development of Summer Bridge/ATP students (freshmen from low-income, 1st gen, HURM backgrounds) • Facilitate academic & sociocultural adjustment of UCSD underrepresented students • 1:1 peer counseling conferences • Facilitating group meetings & discussions • Ensuring development of strong support network
