  1. Annex 39 meeting – Waseda University, Tokyo 2013-11-12

  2. Agenda • Welcome and round the table • Work plan and future actions • Input form partners on their ongoing work • Review of task 1 & 2 national reports • Tasks 3 & 4 • General dissemination and collaboration with standardization bodies • Nextmeeting

  3. Participants • Mr. Marek Miara, FraunhoferISE, Germany • Mr. Onno Kleefkens, AgentshapNL, the Netherlands • Mr. Andreas Genkinger, FachhochschuleNordwestschweiz, Switzerland • Mr. Roger Nordman, SP Technical research instituteof Sweden • Mr. Christian Koefinger, AIT, Austria • Mr. Antonio Bouza, DOE, USA • Prof. Saito, Waseda Univ. • Prof. Hirota, Mie Univ. • Dr. Hashimoto, Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry • Ms. Terao, HPTCJ • Mr. Jussi Hirvonen, Finnish HPA, Finland

  4. Work plan

  5. Futureactions • IEA Conference workshop programme • Meeting with CEN standardisation

  6. Partners input

  7. National reports

  8. Task 3 - New calculation method for SPF/ Commonly accepted definitions on how SPF is calculated • EU SPF (SCOP) acc. To SEPEMO, EU SCOP, EU ERP • EU VDI? • EU other local standards? • US SEER • US EER • JP AFP • China AFP • Others??

  9. Task 4 - Identify improvements to existing test procedures

  10. Task 6 Development of an alternative method to evaluate heat pump performance The following operating situations illustrate why SPF alone cannot be judged alone in order to understand heat pump performance: • Part load operation in an oversized system (Full load operation in an undersized system) • Large share of backup in an undersized system • Large share of DHW to space heating (typical for low energy buildings)

  11. T6 - proposals • Primaryenergyratio PER

  12. T6 - proposals • Carnot efficiency The Carnot efficiency is the relation between the efficiency under real conditions and the theoretically maximum reachable efficiency. Drawbacks?

  13. T6 - proposals • SpecificenergydemandThe specific energy demand is based on the measured usable energy delivered by the heat pump system to the building, the final energy demand of the heat pump system and heated/cooled building area.

  14. T6 - proposals • Heat pump energy supply ratio For bivalent heat pump systems the heat pump energy supply ratio HPESR is calculated to show how much of the usable energy is supplied by heat pump and the backup heater.

  15. Next meeting • In conjunctionwith IEA HPP Conference Montreal, • Needto present attractiveprogrammeof speakers • Will present someof the final draft reports
