It is usually held every four years but this summer marks the 100th anniversary of the competition. First edition took place in 1916. Only 4 teams took part then including Brazil, Argentina, Chille and Uruguay. This time total 16 teams will participate to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
First time outside South America This is the very first time, when a Copa America Football tournament is taking place outside South America. United States takes the honourto host the big event in June. The tournament was announced long back in 2012 as a celebration of centenary of Copa America.
When does it Start & Finish This summer, the tournament is starting on 3rd June. The opening match is between the host nation USA and Colombia. The tournament comes to an end on 26th June, Sunday.
