14. Whittier: recent activities • AEIC, ADG&GS and the ADHS&EM conducted an introductory visit to Whittier and introduced the tsunami inundation mapping project. • During the recent GPS field survey in Whittier, we collected more than 100 elevation measurements in order to improve the coastal area of Whittier DEM. • We analyzed and modeled the underwater slope failures in Passage Canal that generated destructive tsunami waves in Whittier. • We modeled seiches observed in the Passage Canal in 1964 that were caused by tilting of the bed of the fjord during the earthquake. • We conducted numerical modeling of the tectonic tsunami scenarios and prepared the first draft of the report.

15. Seward: community visit, 12/2/2009 • AEIC and ADG&GS presented results of tsunami inundation mapping of the upper Resurrection Bay to the City of Seward and to the public. The presentation was very well received by the community. • The City of Seward and the Kenai Peninsula Borough are now conducting user review; the report and the maps are in publication.
