Events • Lost parents in a fire. • Had to move to Count Oalf’s. • Count Oalf was after there fortune. • Was taken away from count Oalf by Mr. Poe. • Then moved to their uncle Monty. • Count Oalf has “ Stephano” was uncle Monty’s assistant. • He killed uncle Monty. • Police blamed it on the reptiles that uncle Monty owned. • Had to move to a new relative.

  8. Actors • Violet- Emily Browning • Klaus- Liam Aiken • Oalf- Jim Carrey

  9. Violet • For Violet I would have Emily Browning play the role. Because she looks like what Violet was described in the book. She seems really calm and relax like the character she will be playing.

  10. Klaus • For Klaus I would have Liam Aiken play his role. Liam seems like the right choice because of his looks. He also played the part of Klaus before and has done it well.

  11. Oalf • For Oalf I would totally have Jim Carrey play his role. Because Oalf is very hyper and dramatic, Jim Carrey just seems like the obvious choice.

  12. Plot • After being taken away from their horrible guardian Count Oalf “ who just tried to steal their fortune”, Mr. Poe took the children to their new guardian. His name was Dr. Montgomery Montgomery, but to the Baudelaire orphans it was “Uncle Monty.” He was the last relative that the orphans had. He was their fathers cousin. Dr. Montgomery had a huge reptile room and was planning to move to Peru.

  13. He had an assistant named Gustav to help him box the reptiles, and help him move to Peru with them. But Gustav was murdered by Count Oalf. One night at Uncle Monty’s the children and him were connecting, then the door bell rang. At the door stood a tall slim man with glasses, he informed Dr. Montgomery that Gustav had passed away and that he was sent to be his new assistant. He named himself stephano.

  14. The children told their Uncle Monty that it wasn’t an assistant that it was Count Oalf, and that he was after them and their fortune. Count Oalf plays the role of Sthepano for a few days to gain everyone's trust. Uncle Monty was killed one night by Count Oalf, and had to little holes in his neck, Count Oalf told the cops that Dr. Montgomery ‘s biggest snake must have bit him. After his death the children were assigned a new guardian.

  15. Conflict • The conflict in this novel would be the Baudelaire orphans and Count Oalf. Oalf is after the orphans fortune, and will do anything to get his hands on it. There would also be the murder of Gustav and Uncle Monty.

  16. Theme • I think in this book one of the most important theme would be greediness. Because Oalf is greedy enough to follow the orphans and harm them till he has there fortune. And also there would be grief, the orphans lost their parents to a house fire. The title of the book is understandable since their Uncle Monty was killed in the reptile room.

  17. Writing style • 1- the stretch of road that leads out of the city, past Hazy Harbor and into the town of Tedia, is perhaps the most unpleasant in the world. • 2- He, Mr. Poe, and the Baudelaire orphans were all sitting around a bright green table, each having a slice of Uncle Monty’s cake.

  18. 3- With one flick of its tail, the snake unlatched the door of its cage and slithered out onto the table, and before Uncle Monty or any of the Baudelaire orphans could say anything, it opened its mouth and bit sunny right on the chin. • 4- If only Uncle Monty knew what we know. • 5- He’s after our fortune, certainly, but how can he get it if we’re under Uncle Monty’s care?
